BikeBridge Cycling Association presents the first ever Lethbridge Bike Fest! We’ve strived to bring together all sectors of our small-yet-mighty local cycling community to showcase the many different ways you can have a fun time on two wheels in Lethbridge. With a wide variety of family-friendly cycling events for riders of all ages and abilities, including mountain biking, road cycling, movie nights, and more, there’s something for everyone!

Friday, May 18 - 3:00-5:00pm
Bike Mechanic Workshop for Teens (Grade 7-12) at the Crossings Branch Lethbridge Public Library • Dust off that bike and have the helpful technicians from Ascent Cycle get it into tip-top riding shape for summer! They’ll cover the the basics required to make sure your trusty steed is in safe and sturdy condition.

Tuesday Night Film at the Crossings Branch Lethbridge Public Library “The Flying Scotsman” • The true story of Graeme Obree, the Champion cyclist who built his bicycle from old bits of washing machines who won his championship only to have his title stripped from him and his mental health problems which he has suffered since.

Commuter Cycling Skills Course • Do you feel uncomfortable riding your bicycle in traffic? Want to become a confident, everyday cyclist on Lethbridge streets? You don’t have to be a lycra-clad roadie to ride your bike to work. In fact, you don’t have to be an athlete at all. We believe anyone can learn to bike competently and confidently in traffic, and this CAN-BIKE course will increase your comfort level and confidence — from quiet residential roads to the busiest streets of downtown Lethbridge. Bike Boulevard launch ride • Spring is finally here and this will be the long-awaited official grand opening of the new Bike Boulevard, running from Mayor Magrath Drive to 4th Street South.

Headwinds Cycling Club social ride • Come join Headwinds Cycling Club on a weekly social road ride at 6:30pm on May 28 at Coulee Brew. If you're not a member and haven't ridden with Headwinds before, take in a ride at no cost (arrive early as a waiver will need to be signed). The ride will be organized in categories (a/b/c) depending on riders present. Remember to follow the Alberta transport laws and respect those around you. The ride will be approximately 40km, heading out from Coulee Brew on HWY3, then south on 845, then back into town on HWY4 and 43 St back to Coulee Brew. headwinds.ab.ca/events/

LACA Women’s Mountain Bike Skills Session • Building on the popularity of the regular “Titty Tuesday” women’s rides, this will be a ladies-only mini skills session for coulee riding newbies, led by Aubrey Demchuk of the Lethbridge Area Cycle Association. Meet at the Lethbridge College Parking Lot N at 6:00pm and make sure to wear your helmet!

Bicycle Scavenger Hunt and BBQ • Join us at the Henderson Lake picnic shelter for a free BBQ meal and have some fun biking around the lake to find clues to win prizes!

Lethbridge SportFest Bike Rodeo • This year’s SportFest will include the Southern Alberta Road Safety Society, who will be teaching kids about bike safety and the rules of the road. They will also check to make sure helmet fits properly, with nearly 100 brand new helmets to giveaway for free, along with 10 brand new bikes that will be raffled off as well! www.sportfest.ca/

BMX Day in Alberta • BMX Day in Alberta is a one-day Province-wide initiative aimed at promoting the Olympic sport of BMX racing while encouraging new participants to give BMX a try. On Sunday June 3, BMX tracks across Alberta will open their doors to anyone interested in trying out BMX for the first time.
