Jane's Ride

Join this family-friendly ride through Lethbridge history, suitable for cyclists of all ages and abilities. 

Meet at the corner of 6th Ave/9th Street South (south of 6th Ave) at 6:30pm. This year’s speakers include Andrew Chernevych, Jane Edmundson, Kevin MacLean, Paige Rosner and Ross Kilgour. The route will take cyclists down the 7th Avenue Bike Boulevard towards Henderson Lake, with the ride ending at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden for tea!

Urban Poker Ride & Bicycle Show 'n Shine/BBQ

The marquee event for BikeFest 2019 will be this incredible combined event with something for everyone!

The Poker Ride consists of a leisurely route starting from the Southern Alberta Art Gallery, heading down 6th Street, then east along the Bike Boulevard, and up 18th Street to end at Ascent Cycle. There will be stops along the way to pick up a total of 5 playing cards and whoever has the best poker hand at the end wins the big prize! We’ll have a relaxed cycling celebration at the end with live music and a BBQ put on by Ascent Cycle, featuring many fine velocipedes on display. Shine up your finest bike and join us!

  • Start at SAAG (601 3rd Ave S): 1pm registration opens, last registration accepted at 2:30pm.

  • Show ‘n Shine starts at 2pm at Ascent Cycle (330 18th Street S)

  • Poker Ride participants must arrive at Ascent Cycle before 3:00pm to be eligible for prizes.

  • This event is open to riders of all ages and abilities, but everyone must sign a waiver to participate.

Urban Cycling Skills Workshop

Do you feel uncomfortable riding your bicycle in traffic? Want to become a confident, everyday cyclist on Lethbridge streets? You don't have to be a lycra-clad roadie to ride your bike to work. In fact, you don't have to be an athlete at all. We believe anyone can learn to bike competently and confidently in traffic, and this CAN-BIKE course will increase your comfort level and confidence — from quiet residential roads to the busiest streets of downtown Lethbridge.

$30 course fee, or $20 for students/low-income/underemployed

Come join Headwinds cycling club on one their weekly social road rides at Coulee Brew. If you're not a member and haven't ridden with Headwinds before take in a ride at no cost (arrive early as a waiver will need to be signed). The ride will be organized in categories (a/b/c) depending on riders present. Remember to follow the Alberta transport laws and respect those around you. The ride will be approximately 45km heading out from Coulee Brew on HWY3 then south on 845 then back into town on HWY4 and 43 St back to Coulee Brew.

SportFest Bike Rodeo

This year’s SportFest will include the Southern Alberta Road Safety Society, who will be teaching kids about bike safety and the rules of the road. They will also check to make sure helmet fits properly, with nearly 100 brand new helmets to giveaway for free, along with 10 brand new bikes that will be raffled off as well!

Bike Park Work Bee/Maintenance Day

The Lethbridge Area Cycling Association is hosting a volunteer Lethbridge Mountain Bike Park build day on June 1 at 12-4pm to clean up the existing jumps, rebuild some of the wood structures, and create a mini pump track for younger cyclists and strider riders! Come down and lend a hand (and a shovel), tell us what changes you’d like to see happen at the park, or just come meet your friendly neighbourhood cycling enthusiasts and chat about bikes. This will be the first of several volunteer build days at the park this year so stay tuned for future events too!

BMX Day in Alberta

BMX Day in Alberta is a one-day Province-wide initiative aimed at promoting the Olympic sport of BMX racing while encouraging new participants to give BMX a try. On Sunday June 2, BMX tracks across Alberta will open their doors to anyone interested in trying out BMX for the first time. From ages 4 and up, this event is open to anyone wanting to try cycling's newest Olympic discipline.
